Ramen Republic Puts out the CALL!

Ramen Republic Puts out the CALL!

Charlie Foster, owner of Ramen Republic at 210 E. Hickory, is looking for a constant stream of local original art for his walls as well as First Friday musicians to celebrate future First Friday Denton events.

Feel free to fill out the contact form here, and we will pass along your information to Ramen Republic, and if you have yet to sample their food – what are you waiting for! Take a long hard look at his beautiful brick walls that are just waiting for your art as well. As always, don’t forget to mention First Friday Denton.

The Great Blizzard of 2011

The Great Blizzard of 2011

Nothing is letting up here in Denton when it comes to weather. We still have plenty of ice on the roadways, and I am hearing neither open nor closed from our frozen group of First Friday Vendors … with the exception of A Creative Art STUDIO. It would be nice for those who make the effort to open to go ahead and comment on this story to confirm or deny your opening tomorrow night. This is a unique situation for North Texas, and we don’t want anyone out and about unless they are confident in their ability to get around. TWU and UNT have cancelled class for Friday, and it’s safe to assume that with more snow on the way, the rest of the education system will shut down Friday as well. That would make for four straight days of closure this February 2011.

Join for for First Friday Denton on SATURDAY, February 5th, 2011. Due to bad weather, First Friday at A Creative Art STUDIO has been moved to Saturday. Performing from 7 – 9 pm on this evening is James “Cedric” Hazelrig. “Cedric” is an incredible musician from the Austin area and a multi-instrumentalist of the legendary renfaire/filk group the Bedlam Bards. He comes to performances armed with two fiddles, a mandola, and a strong, manly voice. He has now released three CDs and for over ten years he has been performing at Renaissance festivals and science-fiction conventions from coast-to-coast. This singer-songwriter will be performing a variety of different genres including Celtic, Irish and his own unique music. His wife and one of artists that exhibit at the studio, Joyce Hazelrig, will be demonstrating the art of needle felting this evening and later in the year she will be back at the studio for a workshop. Kerry Boutell, studio artist, will be demonstrating the art of Watercolor batik. It is hard to believe that we pack so much fun into 2 hours. Come meet with friends and join us for music, art and fun!
