Howe Unique Added to First Friday Denton Lineup

Howe Unique Added to First Friday Denton Lineup

We would like to welcome Howe Unique to the growing list of participants who are making First Friday Denton one of the most successful ongoing regularly scheduled events the City of Denton’s businesses have ever taken part in hosting.

Howe Unique is located at 221 West Oak in Denton, just off the Historic Square in Downtown Denton. Owner Charlie Howe sent me this information a few days back, and I just wanted to share with all the event goers what Howe Unique is all about. Their phone number is 940>891>0751.

Howe Unique is a unique shopping experience offering something for everyone. We are
a family owned and operated store just off the square in downtown. We carry a unique
selection of gifts, home decor, women’s clothing and fashion accessories, baby
accessories, bath and body essentials, and many forms of art. We feature over 25 local
artists in our store with products ranging from art to soaps to jewelry and more. We
encourage our local community to stay creative and expressive by providing an
opportunity for people to showcase and sell their work. With our carefully chosen
product lines along side our local works we are able to offer items that can’t be found
anywhere else around, items that are truly unique to Denton.”

Please be sure to stop by Howe Unique this Friday, and welcome them as the newest members of First Friday Denton. As always, participants and customers should feel free to send images from any of the participating venues from the First Friday happenings, and if you want to be a part of First Friday Denton, be sure to fill out your information on the Contact page and we will get you listed and on the map as soon as possible.

First Friday May 6 2011 at A Creative Art Studio

First Friday May 6 2011 at A Creative Art Studio

Join A Creative Art STUDIO for First Friday Denton May 6, 2011, from 7 – 9 pm. Starting at 7 pm Vanessa Helvey and David White will perform in the studio. Vanessa is a singer songwriter who is originally from the Texoma area. David White studied music at the University of North Texas and will be playing madolin and guitar. Vanessa describes her style as Americana/Alternative with a little Country/Folk. Listen to the wonderful music and check out the beautiful art in the gallery.
The studio has recently begun Community art projects during first Friday. The launching of the first community art project resulted in the First Friday patrons of all ages completing a painting. A weaving sculpture was done at the next celebration. Our community project at the May 6th First Friday will be a community collage. The definition of a collage is a work of formal art made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. It may include fabric, papers, portions of other artworks, words, or found objects. The word collage is taken from the French word coller which means to glue. This art form can be traced back many years but has made a reappearance as an art form. What? Not sure how to make a collage? Come find out. Bring your favorite image, paper or saying or select one of ours to add to the artwork. See the work of several Collage or assemblage artists including Scott Wright, Crystal Nelson and Karen Arzamendi. Some artists that have work in the gallery will be demonstrating their medium and fun will be had by all. Come meet with friends and celebrate music and art.
