Join the fun at First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO on October 4, from 7 – 10 pm. This month for our special evening of music and art we welcome back the Dana Isaac Trio as well as the Link Chalon Orchestra. Starting our musical evening will be the sultry Jazz voice of Dana Isaac, who attended the University of North Texas where she studied both Jazz music and painting and drawing. She performs with her husband Deke Isaac (bass) and friend, Rick Johnson (keyboards), who are also former Jazz students of UNT. At 8:30 the Link Chalon Orchestra takes stage and brings its own brand of indie/folk.
Our Featured Artist of the month is photographer and writer, Ellen Ritscher Sackett. Ellen began documenting her life through the camera lens with an iPhone, but it was during her year as a feature writer for the Denton Record-Chronicle that she became serious about honing her craft as a photographer. She has been published as both photographer and writer in the Dallas Morning News, for which she is a special contributor and a member of the Guide arts and entertainment magazine team.
This month the studio adds the opportunity for visitors to watch or purchase a portrait drawn by artist Bailey Parrish. Art demonstrations are always a part of the studio’s first Friday as well as a community art project for all to participate in it’s creations. Day of the Dead workshops will be offered during the month of October and will a focus of the community art project and one of the artist demonstrations. Grab a friend and come join the fun!
