Join us for this very fun First Friday Denton event at A Creative Art STUDIO. This month we welcome Spring with our Spring inspired Art Show featuring a variety of artists from the studio and the music of Fritz Schwalm followed by Warren Jackson Hearne. Fritz returns to the studio flying solo this time. This singer/songwriter and band leader is always a favorite performer of the studio. He describes his music as rock, alterative-rock, roots, and indie. His soulful writing along with his guitar creates a perfect harmony. First time performing at the studio is Warren Jackson Hearne. Warren comes from strong musical roots in that his parents toured in the Roy Clark Band and his father often performed on Hee Haw. He began following in their footsteps at a very young age and has played with several bands and toured the country. Our art activity for the evening involves a spring-based painting and collage activity. Also for $5 you can create your own small painting on a canvas to take home and treasure. Robin Huttash, gallery and studio owner, will be demonstrating the process of watercolor batik, an art process that uses wax as a resist and watercolor paints on rice paper.

A Creative Art STUDIO has a fun evening planned for First Friday Denton. Be sure and head that way September 5, 7 – 10 pm. Their music is kicked at 7 pm by local singer songwriter Rachel Yeatts. Her music has been described as a mix between Hank Williams and Emmylou Harris and she has recently released her first CD, Paradise Mountain, a compilation of original songs written and sung by Ms. Yeatts.
Following Rachel, Oui Bis, a local group of musicians comprised of Steve Prouty, Leon Peek, George Merritt, Maristella Feustle, Allison Cami and Steve Horn, takes the stage. This group features a variety of styles of music including the American Old Time tradition as well as Irish, Scottish and English folk dance music. Their performance will include a mix of Old Standards (that is to say jazz from the early to mid 20th century), Latin American jazz tunes of various sorts, Balkan and Slavic tunes and a handful of original tunes that might lean heavily on all of the above.
