Happy Good First Friday
It’s a bit quiet this First Friday, and that is probably expected of a Good Friday. Here’s something from A Creative Art Studio:
Join us for this very special First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO. To go along with the start of baseball season we have a “double Hitter” music venue. Starting at 6:30 County Rexford, one of my favorite Celtic groups will start the evening with their fun, toe tapping performance. At 8:15 UVER, with Fritz Schwalm will perform until 10:00 pm. Fritz has played solo and with UVER at the studio and we are looking forward to his wonderful style of music. The 5 minute novelist, Robin Jansen, returns to write your story and once again we will have artist demonstrations by with Linka Behn, Crystal Nelson and Alena Veteo. Once again we will have our ever so popular community art painting to work on as well as artist trading cards. Grab a friend and join the fun.
Photo Roundup From First Friday in March
I made it around to a few places and took photographs last Friday. It was, without a doubt, the most crowded First Friday event since the event began.

Atomic Candy, on the Square, had a sweet First Friday Denton, last Friday.

SCRAP Denton had a good crowd for First Friday Denton.

Sounds and Nick Cave Sound Suits were part of the evening at UNT on the Square last First Friday.

The Chestnut Tree Tea Room First Friday Denton.

A Creative Art Studio had bulging crowds that filled the Studio last First Friday Denton.
First Friday at A Creative Art Studio
Join us for First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO, March 2nd, 2012 from 7 – 9 pm. This month we will have the double hitter musical talent of Kylee Pannel and Ben and Pia Owens. Kylee Pannel is a young singer-songwriter who will dazzle you with incredible voice. The Ben and Pia Owens Duo are new to playing at the studio but not new to music. Ben has been playing the guitar for about 20 years, sings, writes music and has performed in churches across the US and Japan under the name Two Tenors. Pia is originally from Lima, Peru and said that she has always been a closet singer.
Robin Jansen, the 5 minute Novelist, will return by popular demand. We will have our community painting and artist trading cards and art demonstrations so grab your friends and come join us at A Creative Art STUDIO for an evening of art and music.
A Creative Art STUDIO: “Putting ART in the HEART of Denton”
UNT on the SQuare
A Creative Art Studio
Join us for First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO. This First Friday we are very proud to have Darrin Kobetich performing in the Studio from 7 – 9 pm. Darrin, is a Texas based solo acoustic guitar master who classifies his sound as “ambient delta raga thrash grass”. He has provided music for theatrical presentations at Hop Pocket Theatre in Fort Worth and has self released three CDs. His music is truly amazing.
This week we add a Creative Writing twist to our event. Robin Jansen, published local author, joins the Friday fun as the “5 Minute Novelist”. After sharing a few facts with Robin, individuals will then have their personal novel written in five minutes. Tips are appreciated. Crystal Nelson, Emile Stewart and Linka Behn, local artists, will be demonstrating art techniques in the studio. Visitors to the studio will be able to make their mark on the community art painting or make a miniature artwork on a ATF (artist Trading card) and then trade for the artwork of another.
Our beautiful Mural created by Mick Burson is now complete. You can view the mural on the west side of the studio as well as Mick’s artwork on display in the gallery. We are also hoping to show the wonderful short film by Mike Carpenter of the making of the mural. Music, art, fun and friends…..sounds like a happening to me.
NOTE – The FFD site is acting a bit unusual. You will not be able to post or call out individual stories until we get it fixed.
