First Friday Denton First Ever Rescheduling – Friday the 13th. Feeling Lucky

first friday denton texas

Mother Nature sends North Texas her season’s greetings, and when Mother Nature talks, we must listen! First Friday Denton, the oldest ongoing retail event in 21st Century Denton, Texas, will be rescheduled for Friday December 13, 2013 – 12/13/13 almost too much luck to ignore for one date. This is the first time ever FFD has been rescheduled.

By then there will be plenty of folks champing at the bit to get out and partake in all the festivities planned for next Friday, and I am confident the businesses that participate will have even bigger plans for the 13th. than they would have had today.

The Great Blizzard of 2011

The Great Blizzard of 2011

Nothing is letting up here in Denton when it comes to weather. We still have plenty of ice on the roadways, and I am hearing neither open nor closed from our frozen group of First Friday Vendors … with the exception of A Creative Art STUDIO. It would be nice for those who make the effort to open to go ahead and comment on this story to confirm or deny your opening tomorrow night. This is a unique situation for North Texas, and we don’t want anyone out and about unless they are confident in their ability to get around. TWU and UNT have cancelled class for Friday, and it’s safe to assume that with more snow on the way, the rest of the education system will shut down Friday as well. That would make for four straight days of closure this February 2011.

Join for for First Friday Denton on SATURDAY, February 5th, 2011. Due to bad weather, First Friday at A Creative Art STUDIO has been moved to Saturday. Performing from 7 – 9 pm on this evening is James “Cedric” Hazelrig. “Cedric” is an incredible musician from the Austin area and a multi-instrumentalist of the legendary renfaire/filk group the Bedlam Bards. He comes to performances armed with two fiddles, a mandola, and a strong, manly voice. He has now released three CDs and for over ten years he has been performing at Renaissance festivals and science-fiction conventions from coast-to-coast. This singer-songwriter will be performing a variety of different genres including Celtic, Irish and his own unique music. His wife and one of artists that exhibit at the studio, Joyce Hazelrig, will be demonstrating the art of needle felting this evening and later in the year she will be back at the studio for a workshop. Kerry Boutell, studio artist, will be demonstrating the art of Watercolor batik. It is hard to believe that we pack so much fun into 2 hours. Come meet with friends and join us for music, art and fun!
