A Creative Art STUDIO merges music and art for a great First Friday evening. This month our music involves three talented performers. Starting at 7:00 pm Darrin Kobetich and Mark Brandt play their special style of music. Texas-based solo acoustic guitar master Darrin Kobetich classifies his sound as “ambient delta raga thrash grass.” Originally from Long Island, New York, Darrin grew up listening to a lot of music, (including bluegrass, Italian and Greek music, rock ‘n’ roll) and has been playing the guitar since the age of 12. Mark Brandt, Dallas guitarist, first picked up a guitar at the age of 13. Two decades later, armed with a diverse array of influences and experiences, he’s writing music that resonates with passion, aggression, beauty, and an undeniable flow of energy. Following Darrin and Mark will be local musician, Richard Haskins doing a solo set of songs he has written. Their featured artist of the month is Chase Gentry. Chase grew up watching his mother create art and knew it was something he always wanted to do. What makes Chase a very unique artist beside his artistic talent is that he is colorblind. He relies on the names of the colors and can identify some colors by sight but once he has begun the painting process and mixing the hues, the sense of value of the painting or the lights and darks of the painting guides his work. The studio will also have “Dollar a minute” portrait artist Bailey Parrish on hand to create that special portrait for you. She will be at the studio from 7 – 10 pm. Art demonstrations and a community art project rounds out the great evening. A Creative Art STUDIO is located at 227 W Oak Street, just off the square.
