Be sure to check out The Cellar 22 at their hip new location 219 E. Hickory in Denton, Texas! We just received a note from Amanda, and here’s what she had to say:
We have a wine by the glass menu and a food menu. The glasses of wine vary in price from $5.00 – $12.00. The food on the menu now consists of sandwiches, cheese plates, chips and dips, and salads. We are adding to the menu on a regular basis, so keep looking for new items coming soon. If you would like to drink wine that is not on our menu, you are more than welcome to purchase the bottle and drink it here. If you choose to drink the bottle in our wonderful cellar, we will add $5.00 to the cost of the bottle. As always, if you don’t finish the bottle, you can put the cork in it and take it home.
We are so very excited about our new location and we know you will be too once you come check it out! Please follow me on facebook under “cellar twentytwo” so I can keep everyone informed on what is going on at the store!
I can’t wait to see all of you at the cellar!!!!
Thank you so much for all of your patience,
The cellar 22

We are pretty sure a couple of businesses and / or special interests have not yet made it onto the blogroll (links) and map yet. As things start getting more important for you and the First Friday Denton Fall 2010 events edge nearer, we would ask that anyone who has submitted their business or interest – and does not see it showing up on the site – please take the time during August to bring it to our attention (once again).
I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but once the ball gets rolling for the holiday season, we will all be concentrating on other things, so now is the time.

A Creative Art STUDIO
Come enjoy Art and Music at First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO. Last week we finished hanging our new art show and have added over eight artists to our gallery so we hope there is something for everyone. We are excited to have Gregory Conlin, courtroom sketch artist, doing portraits from 5:00-9:00. At our recent art show Gregory was such a success we are asking him back. The 16×20 portrait sketch requires a sitting of about 30 minutes and if you rather, you can call the studio and set up an appointment. If you don’t get your portrait done, you can watch him create his masterpieces. From 7 – 9 pm we are very pleased to announce that Simone Nicole will be performing in the studio. Simone is a singer-songwriter and guitar player from the DFW area who you don’t want to miss. Her music genre can be described as a combination of pop, blues and a little alternative. Join us for a wonderful evening of music, art and friends.
Be sure to check out the MAP page if you are unsure as to locations. To receive automatic updates for First Friday Denton happenings, register on the site. We welcome comments and any information related to First Friday Denton, as we strive to make this event one that is vibrant, fun and beneficial to everyone involved.

It is good to get back to the business of First Friday Denton, although the heat presents a challenge for us all this time of year. I was tuning into local radio KERA in Dallas, and was pleased to hear them announce yet another First Friday Denton – TODAY! How time does fly, as we measure the First Fridays from the weather we experience as the monthly events tick off the calendar.
Be sure and gird yourselves for the next First Friday because, believe it or not, Denton’s university population will already be back and in full fall swing. As the fall season heats up … cools off … First Friday will be looking for new locations to connect individual artists to the community, and we will need help from First Friday vendors as well.
Here’s what we will need as fall approaches:
1 – Design – A fresh design for First Friday Denton logo
2 – Printing – Posters for First Friday Denton participants to put in shop windows that show them as a participant as well as the listing of other participants
3 – Meeting – we will have a meeting (probably after FFD September) to touch base and plan the rest of 2010
We will have more needs as they become known, and as always, First Friday Denton thrives on the creativity of its participants. If anyone has skills that would help to make the short list (above) happen, their help would be greatly appreciated.
Reminder – Please send your blurbs in for the NEXT First Friday Denton event as soon as possible, and we will get them posted in a timely way as things take on a faster seasonal pace. Please send us images of your locations from this First Friday Denton event and all future First Friday Denton events as well as reviews on how your First Friday turned out. We will be glad to run them, and once we have enough images, will create a gallery page of event images. Images should be .jpeg and do not need to be sized. Blurbs and reviews will be edited for spelling and punctuation, but not valid content.

Be sure to send in your blurbs in the next few days, and we will try and get them on the site in time for our next First Friday Denton event – in less than two weeks!
We are on the move, and receiving e mail could be hit-or-miss. Feel free to call – 8 zero 0 8 1 six eight two five 9 – and leave your blurb in a message if no one answers.
This is the time of year in Denton where everyone is just hanging in there, waiting for the weather to cool, students to return in full force, and we hope, getting ready for the first fall season of First Friday Denton. We all have a lot to look forward to and make sure you voice your thoughts on the commuter train schedule whenever and wherever constructive opinions are sought.

Denton’s sleepy summers are legend, and this one’s about half over already!
There’s no doubt there is a bigger spring in Denton’s step when all 47-thousand of UNT and TWU’s students are present and roaming our stores, galleries, restaurants and related services. It’s all just bart of the ebb and flow of Denton though, and you can’t have one without the other.
We are working on some new venues for artists and groups of artists who want to show work for First Friday events, but a lot of the contacts are away on vacation. So, hang in there if you are one of the groups, or individuals looking for a venue … these things are simmering just like an egg on a sidewalk around the Square.
First Friday always welcomes follow up reports on who came by their location on First Friday, and how things went from their perspective. Eventually, we hope to have a social post after each First Friday of all your photographs from your location’s First Friday Denton event. Here are some from A Creative Art STUDIO.
