Say goodbye to the Texas Floods, and hello to huge crowds this First Friday in Denton, Texas!
After almost a solid month of rain, we’re drying out just in time for the first First Friday of summer 2015. Denton was known for summers that are a bit more laid back than the seasons during university school years, but nowadays with all the activities around Downtown Denton, the students living in Denton year-round, the slower pace is hardly noticeable as it used to be.
First Friday Denton is the original event created to highlight Denton businesses that cater to people interested in the things that make Denton unique – art, music, food, artisans and entertainment of all sorts.
HERE’S WHAT YOU WILL FIND THIS FRIDAY:
Please join us this Friday, June 5 from 5:30-7:30 for our public reception for Life Through the Lens: Pictures That Tell a Story by Joe Clark and Junebug Clark. We will remain open until 9pm for First Friday Denton Texas. Events are free and open to the public. Hope to see you there!
Join us Friday, Feb 1st for First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO. Music will be provided by Jake Dester and friends followed by Link Chalon. Music starts at 7 pm and ends at 10. Crystal Nelson, artist, will be our featured artist of the month. Come meet Crystal and see what she has been making in her STUDIO. We will have a special Valentine Make a Shrine activity. For a small fee you can make that special person a Valentine Shrine. Alena Veteto will be demonstrating her jewelry skills and Tina Alvarez will be demonstrating Touch Painting. Robin Jansen, our 5 minute novelist will be back to write your story. Grab and friend and join the fun at A Creative Art STUDIO.
First Friday Denton is just around the corner and A Creative Art STUDIO is planning a very special event. This First Friday also includes the Opening Reception for the Fall Art Show at the Gallery/studio and the public is invited to come view and/or purchase the new works of local artists. With the start of a new school year and the anticipation of the change of seasons, the Gallery/Studio is inaugurating the First Friday Featured Artist series. To kick off our featured artist series, artwork by Denton artist, Trey Wright will be showcased.
Music at the studio will be provided by Friendship Venture, an eclectic performance emsemble lead by UNT percussionist, Sam Friedland, who performs both locally and regionally. The group favors Jazz and conceptual performances. They will be performing original compositions by members of the band and original arrangements of a wide variety of tunes.
Art Demonstrations, the 5 minute novelist as well as a community art project for all to work on will also be part of the evening. Hours are from 7 – 11 pm. Grab a friend and join the fun.
