Send in Your First Friday Announcements

For all the First Friday Denton participants – please have your announcements in by midnight Wednesday before First Friday. You can pretty much count on it not being published if it doesn’t arrive by Wednesday.

We obviously have some great new participants, and I took the opportunity of changing the look of the site to also add the newcomers to the site. Many of the kinks that had been finding their way into the site I’ve ironed out as well. Please join me in welcoming Atomic Candy, Seven Mile Cafe and SCRAP Denton. We also now have a permanent spot for The Chestnut Tree Tea Room. Not only do you have links in the sidebar, you will find a description of your businesses on pages that most closely match your “category” of business. As always, First Friday Denton benefits from links from you just like you benefit from links going your way from First Friday Denton.

As you peruse the new site, there is a sidebar on the right, and there is also information at the bottom. In the right sidebar, along with everything else, are the links for everyone involved. IF you have been missed, or want to be added, you will want to let me know.

August Melts Into September

August Melts Into September

We have survived an historically hot summer, and now it’s time to get in the September swing of things. Certainly, some participants have merchandise that may be a little too cold for this September’s First Friday, but the event goes on as usual, as always.

Anyone who is interested in participating in First Friday Denton should fill out the contact form and I will add you to the site as soon as possible. If you want to get listed or make announcements regarding this First Friday September 2, deadline for that is midnight Wedensday before First Friday.

I also want to give a soft shout out to Etsy Denton! Are you ready to be paired with locations that could feature you and your work for one evening a month in the heart of Denton’s most important retail district? I would also like to hear from the Etsy Denton folks because I am considering spearheading an effort to create a temporary “Denton Guerrilla Christmas” retail location, but we’re going to want some precursory participation in FFD’s first. If I can get enough participants, I will work on the location for a grand opening Black Friday, and running through January 1, 2012.

I will be roaming around participating First Friday Denton locations this Friday, so if you see me just say “CHEESSSSE!” I need still photographs and video clips from participating locations this First Friday, and every First Friday – via iPhone, e mail or however you can get it to me.

Thanks, and let’s have some fantastic First Fridays this fall!

Howe Unique Added to First Friday Denton Lineup

We would like to welcome Howe Unique to the growing list of participants who are making First Friday Denton one of the most successful ongoing regularly scheduled events the City of Denton’s businesses have ever taken part in hosting.

Howe Unique is located at 221 West Oak in Denton, just off the Historic Square in Downtown Denton. Owner Charlie Howe sent me this information a few days back, and I just wanted to share with all the event goers what Howe Unique is all about. Their phone number is 940>891>0751.

Howe Unique is a unique shopping experience offering something for everyone. We are
a family owned and operated store just off the square in downtown. We carry a unique
selection of gifts, home decor, women’s clothing and fashion accessories, baby
accessories, bath and body essentials, and many forms of art. We feature over 25 local
artists in our store with products ranging from art to soaps to jewelry and more. We
encourage our local community to stay creative and expressive by providing an
opportunity for people to showcase and sell their work. With our carefully chosen
product lines along side our local works we are able to offer items that can’t be found
anywhere else around, items that are truly unique to Denton.”

Please be sure to stop by Howe Unique this Friday, and welcome them as the newest members of First Friday Denton. As always, participants and customers should feel free to send images from any of the participating venues from the First Friday happenings, and if you want to be a part of First Friday Denton, be sure to fill out your information on the Contact page and we will get you listed and on the map as soon as possible.
