This First Friday Denton A Creative Art STUDIO brings TRIPLE the fun to one of our favorite art spots in Denton.
Purl Snap Shirts
Music starts at 7 pm with musicians Chuck Voellinger and Chris Veon as Trotline who will be performing an acoustic set. At 7:30 guitarist and singer songwriter Fritz Schwalm takes stage. Fritz is also the leader of the Denton group Uver who you might have heard at Twilight tunes or the studio. Starting at 8:30 is the rock steady Purl Snap Shirts perform. Members Joe Stack and Garrett Phelps describe themselves as musicians who are “guitar playing, lyric singing; born to the wolves, and raised among the various communities of Denton, Texas.” Many of the artists have new work on display as we move into the fall season. Art demonstrations and a fall themed community art painting will be also taking place at the studio. Grab a friend and come join the fun.
Join us for First Friday Denton at A Creative Art STUDIO. This First Friday we are very proud to have Darrin Kobetich performing in the Studio from 7 – 9 pm. Darrin, is a Texas based solo acoustic guitar master who classifies his sound as “ambient delta raga thrash grass”. He has provided music for theatrical presentations at Hop Pocket Theatre in Fort Worth and has self released three CDs. His music is truly amazing.
This week we add a Creative Writing twist to our event. Robin Jansen, published local author, joins the Friday fun as the “5 Minute Novelist”. After sharing a few facts with Robin, individuals will then have their personal novel written in five minutes. Tips are appreciated. Crystal Nelson, Emile Stewart and Linka Behn, local artists, will be demonstrating art techniques in the studio. Visitors to the studio will be able to make their mark on the community art painting or make a miniature artwork on a ATF (artist Trading card) and then trade for the artwork of another.
Our beautiful Mural created by Mick Burson is now complete. You can view the mural on the west side of the studio as well as Mick’s artwork on display in the gallery. We are also hoping to show the wonderful short film by Mike Carpenter of the making of the mural. Music, art, fun and friends…..sounds like a happening to me.
NOTE – The FFD site is acting a bit unusual. You will not be able to post or call out individual stories until we get it fixed.
